Meet Dr. Alicia Malone our Executive Director
Rev. Dr. Alicia J. Malone is a native of Akron, Ohio. She was educated in the Akron Public Schools. She is the mother of one son, Aaron D. (Charmaine) Malone, with one granddaughter (Ryane) and 2 grandsons (Aaron, Jr. and Cartier Malone). Dr. Alicia accepted Christ at age 14 and maintained active membership at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church from 1968 until 2010. Her love of the Lord has caused her to teach Sunday school for over 43 years. In 1996, she presided as the Missionary President of MOBC for two years. She has a compassionate, determinate call to serve others, especially those who suffer.
Dr. Alicia Malone, under the tutelage of persons like the late Mrs. Jessie Solomon, Mrs. Janet Purnell; Mrs. Francene P. Kemp, and her mentor late Dr. Arthur E. Kemp, she learned how to serve Christ by serving humanity. Dr. Malone enjoys the "work of the Church" and is a visionary. She believes in thinking "outside of the box" exampling her Lord and Savior Christ!
Alicia accepted her call to the proclamation ministry in 1991. She was licensed by Dr. Arthur Kemp and commissioned by Mt. Olive Baptist Church. These were turbulent times for the area Pastors, because some had not been open to the transcendence of the Holy Spirit or times regarding "Women in Ministry" (John 3:8). Consequently, Alicia received her local ordination 1994 by Rev. Richard Scarborough at the New Zion Baptist Church in Alliance, Ohio. Evangelist Malone served six consecutive years at New Mt. Zion Baptist Church as the Monday night Bible Instructor. In May of 2012, Rev. Dr. Alicia J. Malone received her National Ordination under the American Baptist Churches, USA.
Awards and Community Involvement
Dr. Malone has been the recipient of many awards. She is a published author and in 1996, published her testimony: "What God Can't do Just Can't Be Done." She is the Founder and Executive Director of Bondage Breakers, Inc. [A Prison Reentry Agency]. In 1998, Dr. Malone had the esteemed privilege to travel to Israel and Greece to view the land of her Lord and Savior. She says: "that trip changed my life, my constitution and my commitment to serve Him, forever!"
Pastoral Care & Ethics
Dr. Malone has a passion for the lost and compassion to serve from heart. In January 2010, she accepted the call as Administrative Dean Instructor for the Tri-State Bible College, Northern Campus, and now as the Vice President. Dr. Malone currently maintains membership at the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.
Professional Affiliations
Her professional specialties include having worked and retired as a Navy Nuclear Correspondent for the Babcock & Wilcox Co. in Barberton, Ohio. She managed contracts and facilitated production control. She has served and is currently a certified Chaplain for Akron General Hospital. Conflict Management, Leadership Training, Teaching and Spiritual Development are among her specialties.
In 2009, Rev. Dr. Alicia J. Malone was voted, and installed as the first African American (female) Moderator for the American Baptist Churches Akron Area Association of Churches.
Dr. Malone is an avid member and Chaplain for the Federated Democratic Women of Summit County. She has numerous awards including the Harold K. Stubbs Humanitarian, Leona Farris Caring Award, The Martin L. King, Jr. Drum Major Award (Grafton Correctional Institution), Hidden Hero Award (Girl Scouts USA), Mayoral Proclamation for Martin L. King, Jr. Day (Bondage Breakers, Inc. and Proclamation from Summit County Executive llene Shapiro, Congressional Recognition from Marcia Fudge (Member of Congress),Secretary of State of Ohio Frank LaRose and The General Assembly of the State Of Ohio. The Ohio Senate Senator Larry Obhof and Senator Vernon Sykes 28th Senatorial District among many others. With all of her accomplishments, she says: "To God be the Glory, great things He has done!"
